Professional biography
Soprano Zoe Rose Pallas, based in Tuscaloosa, spent the summer of 2024 as a Studio Artist with Teatro Nuovo in New York City, performing in two operas presented at Lincoln Center, including the modern premiere of Carolina Uccelli's Anna di Resburgo—a New York Times critic's pick for the calendar year and a finalist for the 2024 International Opera Awards. Her research on Anna was presented at the 2025 National Opera Association conference and earned her a grant from the Alabama State Council on the Arts.
The remainder of the 2025 season included performances with Prentice Concert Chorale and the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra, and with Birmingham Opera Project in the title role of Puccini’s Suor Angelica. She reprised the role in 2026 as a guest artist at The University of Alabama in tandem with the Huxford Symphony Orchestra. Her 2026 summer season includes engagements with Opera Birmingham as the Nedda cover in Pagliacci and as a recital soloist with the Natchez Festival of Music.
Zoe Rose received her master’s degree from The University of Alabama, where she studied with Paul Houghtaling. She appeared with UA Opera Theatre as the title character in Tobias Picker’s Thérèse Raquin, a production that received first place in National Opera Association Division II, as Alcina in Alcina, and as Pamina in Die Zauberflöte.
Other recent performances and awards include the James Toland Vocal Arts Competition in San Francisco, where she received the Bell Encouragement Award; Druid City Opera’s Lucia di Lammermoor, where she covered Lucia; and second place at the national level of the 2023 Music Teachers National Association Young Artist Competition.
She received her undergraduate degree from Florida State University, where she was selected by faculty as a cultural ambassador for the Promising Young Artists program, which brought her as a touring soloist and Brahms quartetist to Costa Rica. She sang Young Alyce in Cipullo's Glory Denied, Clorinda in an abridged La Cenerentola, and scenes from Strauss' Arabella as Zdenka.
